About participation of the Azerbaijan Republic in peacekeeping transactions
This Law establishes bases, forms and procedure for participation of the Azerbaijan Republic in the peacekeeping operations performed in connection with prevention, settlement and the decision of the local and regional conflicts.
In this Law participation in peacekeeping transactions is considered as part of the complex activities performed by the world community, the international organizations, the coalitions of the states, the certain states, state bodies and non-governmental organizations in the field of prevention, the decision, settlement and elimination of effects of the local and regional conflicts.
Provisions of this Law do not limit according to article 51 of the Charter of the UN of the inalienable right of the Azerbaijan Republic to individual or collective self-defense for the purpose of reflection of armed attack, and also the right to cooperation in the military sphere with other states and the international organizations for ensuring the international and regional security. The Azerbaijan Republic independently determines feasibility, scale and extent of participation in peacekeeping transactions.
1.1. The legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic on participation of the Azerbaijan Republic in peacekeeping transactions consists of the Constitution of the Azerbaijan Republic, this Law, other regulatory legal acts and international treaties which participant is the Azerbaijan Republic.
1.2. In case of contradictions between this Law and international treaties which participant is the Azerbaijan Republic according to article 151 of the Constitution of the Azerbaijan Republic the international agreements are applied.
