THE JOINT STATEMENT FOLLOWING THE RESULTS OF THE FIFTH MEETING OF CHAIRMEN OF THE SUPREME COURTS OF STATE MEMBERS OF THE SHANGHAI COOPERATION ORGANIZATION

On May 27-28, 2010 in the city of Dushanbe of the Republic of Tajikistan the Fifth Meeting of chairmen of the Supreme Courts of state members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in which work the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tajikistan N. A. Abdulloyev, the Chairman of the Supreme court of the Republic of Kazakhstan M. T. Alimbekov, the Chairman of the Supreme National Court of People's Republic of China Wang Shengjun, the Acting as the Chairman of the Supreme court of the Kyrgyz Republic K. A. Mombekov, the Chairman of the Supreme court of the Russian Federation V. M. Lebedev, the Vice-chairman of the Supreme court of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.R.Rakhmanov took part took place.

The Deputy Secretary general of SCO M. A. Konarovsky took part in work of the Meeting.

The meeting took place under the chairmanship of the Tajik side.

During the meeting which took place in the constructive and friendly atmosphere, participants discussed the prospects of further development of cooperation of judicial authorities. Questions of tender equality and legal mechanisms against tortures in legislations of state members of SCO were considered.

Heads of the Supreme Courts of state members of SCO following the results of the taken place Meeting, declared the following:

1) the Basis for effective cooperation are reliance principles, are mutually advantageous, equality, respect of variety of cultures, common development between the Supreme Courts of the state members of SCO "fixed" in the Charter of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

2) Permanent interaction between the Supreme Courts of state members of SCO promotes preserving and cooperation increase on wide range of the questions directed to strengthening of the world, safety of stability in the region and development of the relations between state members of SCO, and also justice implementation enhancement, protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens.
