The purpose of this Law is regulation of the relations in the field of information and library activities.
The legislation on information and library activities consists of this Law and other acts of the legislation.
If the international treaty of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes other rules, than those which are stipulated by the legislation the Republic of Uzbekistan about information and library activities then are applied rules of the international treaty.
In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:
information and library resource - the information fixed on material object in the form of the text, sound recording or the image and having details for its identification, storage and ensuring access to it;
information and library activities - activities of information and library organizations for forming of information library stocks and the organization of information and library servicing on the basis of information and communication technologies;
information library stock - set of the systematized information and library resources;
information and library servicing - ensuring access of users to information library resources;
the summary electronic catalog - set of electronic catalogs of information and library organizations;
the user - person registered in information and library organization for information and library servicing;
the electronic catalog - electronic form of the list of the systematized information and library resources;
electronic library - electronic form of information library stock.
