About biological safety
The Parliament adopts this organic law.
This law regulates the types of activity connected with obtaining, testing, production, use and realization of the organisms which are genetically modified using methods of modern biotechnology. The human body cannot be object of genetic modifications.
The special mode of regulation, permission and management of the specified types of activity is designed to provide their implementation in the conditions of biological safety, genetically modified organisms allowing to warn, exclude or reduce risk of adverse effect on health of the person, biological diversity, ecological equilibrium and quality of the environment.
Art. 1 - In this law the following basic concepts are used in value:
organism - any biological education capable to transfer or replication of genetic material;
genetically modified organism - any organism, except for human which genetic material was changed others, than crossing and/or natural recombination, way;
microorganism - any microbic being, cellular or noncellular education capable to transfer or replication of genetic material, including viruses, cages of animals and plants in culture;
genetic material - any material of plant, animal, microbic or other origin containing functional units of heredity of the real or potential value;
biotechnology - any technological transaction on use of biological systems, organisms or their derivatives aiming at obtaining or change of products, processes for specific use;
modern biotechnology - application of in vitro of methods of recombination of the nucleic acids and methods based on cell fusion of organisms with the different taxonomical status which eliminate natural physiological reproductive or recombinational barriers and are not traditional methods of improvement and selection;
