About labor unions
Accepted by National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on December 5, 2000
This Law establishes procedure for creation of labor unions, the principles of their activities and the relation with state bodies, local government bodies, legal entities and physical persons, and also governs the relations connected with protection of the rights and interests of labor unions and their participants (members).
Operation of this Law extends to the labor unions operating in the Republic of Armenia.
In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:
labor union - the professional organization or the union of the professional organizations;
the professional organization - public association which in the procedure established by the law and in case of free declaration of will combines the workers who are in employment relationships with this employer for the purpose of representation of their labor and related professional, economic, social rights and interests and their protection in employment relationships;
the union of the professional organizations - public association with the status of non-profit organization which in the procedure established by the law combines two and more professional organizations for the purpose of representation of the labor and related professional, economic, social rights and interests of workers and their protection in employment relationships;
