This Law determines legal sales terms citizens of right of defense from illegal encroachments and is directed to increase in their activity in protection of law and order.
Subject of regulation of this Law are the public relations arising in connection with participation of citizens of the Republic of Belarus, foreign citizens and stateless persons (further if other is not established by this Law, - citizens), and also associations of citizens in protection of law and order.
The legal basis of participation of citizens and their associations in protection of law and order is constituted by the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, this Law and other acts of the legislation of the Republic of Belarus.
The basic principles of participation of citizens and their associations in protection of law and order are:
voluntariness;
legality;
humanity and respect of human rights;
publicity;
close interaction with the state bodies performing protection of law and order.
It is forbidden to the citizens who are taking part in protection of law and order:
perform the activities which are not provided by this Law;
