The government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan which are hereinafter referred to as with the Parties
proceeding from need of creation of conditions for wide and free dissemination of information on social and political, economic and cultural life of two countries,
considering need of providing legal protection to journalists and other media men and the best conditions for implementation of their professional activity,
being effective according to article 4 of the Agreement on creation of the Commonwealth of Independent States of December 8, 1991 providing assistance to broad information exchange and need of the conclusion of agreements in the specified area of interaction other agreements reached within the Commonwealth of Independent States and on bilateral basis
wishing to promote accomplishment of provisions of the Final act of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe of 1975 and the subsequent documents of OSCE concerning cooperation in the field of information and the humanitarian sphere
agreed as follows:
1. In this agreement the stated below terms have the following values:
"foreign correspondents" - the correspondents of mass media (the agencies, newspapers, magazines, other periodic printing editions, radio and television) registered in the Russian Federation and accredited in the Republic of Tajikistan and the correspondents of mass media registered in the Republic of Tajikistan and accredited in the Russian Federation;
"the state of accreditation" - the state in which the foreign correspondent is accredited;
"authorized bodies" - the central state bodies performing regulation of questions of accreditation and activities of foreign correspondents in the territory of the state of accreditation.
