About volunteer activities

This Law governs the relations connected with implementation of volunteer activities in Ukraine.

Section I General provisions

Article 1. Volunteer activities and basic principles of its implementation

1. Volunteer activities - voluntary, socially directed, non-profitable activities which are performed by volunteers by provision of the volunteer help.

The volunteer help - works and services which are free of charge carried out and provided by volunteers.

Volunteer activities are charity form.

Free performance of works or provision of services by persons which are performed on the basis of the related, friendly or neighbour's relations is not volunteer activities.

2. Volunteer activities are based on the principles of legality, humanity, equality, voluntariness, bezoplatnost, unprofitability.

3. Volunteer activities are performed in the following directions:

rendering the volunteer help for the purpose of support needy, jobless, having many children, homeless, homeless, persons needing social resettlement and persons who are in difficult vital circumstances;

implementation of patient care, persons with disability, lonely, elderly people and other persons who because of the physical, material or other features need support and the help;

rendering the volunteer help to the citizens injured with emergency situation of technogenic or natural nature, action of the special period, legal regimes of emergency state and warlike situation, conducting anti-terrorist operation, implementation of actions for ensuring national security and defense, repulse and control of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, implementation of the actions necessary for ensuring defense of Ukraine, protection of safety of the population and interests of the state in connection with military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and/or other country against Ukraine, as a result of the social conflicts, accidents, and also to the victims of criminal offenses, refugees, internally displaced persons;
