aiming at preserving technological unity of highways and creation of conditions for free movement of goods and services by road transport, increase in efficiency of interstate transportations across highways of the State Parties of this agreement,

understanding importance of ensuring safety of highways and safety of traffic,

agreed as follows:

Article 1

For the purposes of this agreement the following terms are used:

"vehicle" - the device intended for transportation across highways of loads or passengers, or the equipment installed on it;

"cargo vehicle" - the vehicle with the mechanical drive intended for transportation of goods on highways;

"tractor" - the vehicle supplied with own engine and intended only or mainly for towage of trail car or semitrailer truck;

"trail car" - the vehicle intended for transportation of goods by towage by the tractor or the cargo vehicle;

"semitrailer truck" - the vehicle which is specially equipped for transportation of goods intended for connection with the tractor so that part of this vehicle was located directly on the tractor and transferred it considerable share of the weight;

"road train" - the combined vehicle consisting of the cargo vehicle and trail car (the trailing road train), the tractor and semitrailer truck (the saddle road train);

"bus" - the vehicle intended for transportation of passengers and baggage, having more than 8 places for sitting apart from driver's seat;

"the jointed bus" - the bus consisting of two or more tough sections pivotally connected with each other and having the passenger salon in each section allowing passengers to move freely from one salon to another;

"the combined vehicle" - the combination of vehicles consisting of the car connected to trail car or semitrailer truck;
