The State Parties of this agreement on behalf of the governments which are referred to as further with the Parties

understanding importance of preserving genetic variety of plants for these and future generations,

considering need of replenishment of national collections of vegetable resources for their further use in selection programs of the Parties,

in view of need of developments of new effective methods of preserving and studying of samples of plants of national collections,

proceeding from desire to combine the scientific potential for use of the accumulated experience in area of studying of genetic resources of plants and release of the most perspective, highly productive and steady initial material from national collections for the purpose of receipt of new high-yielding grades of crops,

agreed as follows:

Article 1

For the purposes of this agreement the stated below terms have the following values:

gene pool of plants - genetic variety of cultural plants and their wild relatives;

genetic resources of plants - the plant material which is potential source of valuable genes for use in selection programs;

cultural plants - the cultivated plants;

national collections of gene pool of plants - the collections of genetic resources of plants which are under the state authority;

joint grades and hybrids of crops - the grades and hybrids created on the basis of joint international selection programs within agreements, agreements or contracts;

joint expeditions - the expeditions on collection of examples of genetic variety of plants which are carried out in the territory of one of the Parties with participation of her specialists.

Article 2

The parties perform equal mutually advantageous sci-tech cooperation in the field of collection, preserving, studying and use of gene pool of cultural plants for the purpose of implementation of selection programs.
