The government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of Lithuania which further are referred to as with the Parties

wishing to promote further development of good-neighbourhood between the states,

for the purpose of maintenance of the mode of frontier between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Lithuania,

for timely settlement of borderline cases on frontier, law enforcement,

wishing to resolve all arising boundary issues in the spirit of cooperation and mutual assistance,

agreed as follows:

Article 1

The terms applied in this agreement have the following value:

the frontier mode between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Lithuania (further - frontier) - the rules determining procedure for content of the Belarusian-Lithuanian frontier, its crossing by persons and vehicles, movements through border of loads, goods and animals, swimmings and stay of watercrafts (vehicles on ice) in boundary waters, maintaining on border or near it economic, trade and other activity, permission of the incidents connected with violation of the specified rules;

bodies of protection of frontier - the bodies determined by national legislative and other regulatory legal acts of the states of the Parties and officials whose competence permission of questions of protection of frontier and ensuring accomplishment of contractual commitments enters;

borderline case - the incident on frontier which resulted from illegal actions of inhabitants, military personnel, other persons or representatives of authorities of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Lithuania, expressed in different violations of the mode of border and international treaties on boundary questions;

investigation of borderline case - the comprehensive consideration of the circumstances connected with origin and nature of borderline case which is carried out by boundary representatives for identification of persons guilty of its making, and also settlements of this incident;
