confirming the aspiration to provide protection of values of historical and cultural heritage;

attaching special significance to development of cooperation in the field of protection of values of historical and cultural heritage;

confirming need and importance of return of historical and cultural heritage to cultural and scientific life;

recognizing that the historical and cultural heritage of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Lithuania constitutes the most part of the all-European historical and cultural heritage;

proceeding from the fact that the protection of historical and cultural heritage representing special importance for the all-European cultural identity shall not depend on political environment;

aiming to find out and estimate condition of the states of Contracting Parties of the values of historical and cultural heritage connected with general history and culture of both states located in the territories;

wishing to stop illegal import and export of values of historical and cultural heritage;

being convinced that the cooperation will promote in the field preserving the all-European historical and cultural heritage in general,

agreed as follows:

Article 1

Contracting parties perform accounting, research and protection of their states of the values of historical and cultural heritage connected with general history and culture of both states located in the territories according to the legal acts existing in this state.

Article 2

Contracting parties communicate concerning protection of their states of the values of historical and cultural heritage connected with general history and culture of both states located in the territories.
