The government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of Moldova which are hereinafter referred to as with Contracting Parties

considering significant role of the international and bilateral cooperation in fight against quarantine weeds, wreckers and diseases of plants and products of plant origin, and also for the purpose of prevention of their distribution in the world,

declaring the determination to coordinate efforts in fight against quarantine organisms for protection of the territories of the states against their penetration and distribution,

being guided by desire to develop closer scientific and technical and trade relations,

agreed as follows:

Article 1

The terms used in this agreement mean:

plants - live plants and their parts, including seeds;

quarantine organisms - wreckers, causative agents of diseases of plants, products of plant origin, the weeds which are absent or restrictedly located in the territory of the country;

the quarantine products - any products, materials and objects which can be direct carriers or promote distribution of quarantine organisms;

phytosanitary control - purposeful actions for determination of availability of quarantine organisms in quarantine products.

Article 2

1. Contracting parties support and develop cooperation in the field of quarantine and protection of plants.

2. The cooperation within this agreement will be performed according to legislations of the states of Contracting Parties.

3. Competent authorities of the Contracting Parties performing coordination of sales activity of this agreement are:

from the Republic of Belarus - the Belarusian state inspectorate for quarantine of plants;

from the Republic of Moldova - the Main State inspectorate for phytosanitary quarantine.
