The purpose of this Law is regulation of the relations in the field of restriction of distribution and the use of alcoholic and tobacco products.
This Law is directed to protection of health of citizens, first of all persons which did not reach twenty-year age, from harmful effects of the use of alcoholic and tobacco products, the social and other negative effects connected with it, and also creation of organizational and legal conditions of forming and approval in the society of healthy lifestyle.
The legislation on restriction of distribution and use of alcoholic and tobacco products consists of this Law and other acts of the legislation.
If the international treaty of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes other rules, than those which are stipulated by the legislation the Republic of Uzbekistan about restriction of distribution and the use of alcoholic and tobacco products then are applied rules of the international treaty.
In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:
alcoholic products - food products with volume fraction of ethyl alcohol more than one and a half percent, made with use of the cognac or rectified ethyl alcohol, wine materials and (or) alcohol-containing food products;
