The centralized storage is placed on the platform located between villages Old Krasnitsa, Buryakivk, Chistogalivk and Stechank of Kiev region in exclusion zone of the territory which underwent to radioactive pollution as a result of the Chernobyl catastrophic crash.
In the construction project of centralized storage the term of its operation, the sizes and borders of sanitary protection zone and zone of observation, extreme values of characteristics of the fulfilled nuclear fuel, in particular the maximum enrichment before radiation, the maximum burning out and final heat release, requirements to system of informing authorities and the population about condition of radiation safety of object and the environment at all stages of its construction and operation and so forth are surely determined.
Designing and construction of centralized storage are carried out with observance of requirements of rather civil protection, technogenic, nuclear and radiation safety, international treaties.
Total capacity of centralized storage represents 16529 fulfilled heat-generating collections of VVER-440 and VVER-1000 reactors.
For storage the fulfilled nuclear fuel of VVER-440 and VVER-1000 reactors of domestic nuclear power plants is transferred in centralized storage.
