About prevention of iodine-deficiency diseases
This Law governs the public relations in the field of prevention of iodine-deficiency diseases among the population of the Republic of Kazakhstan, production, import, export and realization, quality assurance and safety of iodized salt and others, the enriched compounds of iodine, foodstuff.
In this Law the following basic concepts are used:
1) edible salt - the salt intended for the food purposes;
2) authorized body in the field of health care (further - authorized body) - the central executive body performing state regulation in the field of protection of public health, medical and pharmaceutical science, medical and pharmaceutical education, drug circulation, control of quality of medical services;
3) counterfeited salt - salt, obviously and intentionally changed (counterfeited) and (or) having the hidden properties and qualities, information on which is obviously doubtful or incomplete;
4) fodder salt - the salt used in livestock production as mineral additive in food by animal;
5) iodine-deficiency diseases - the pathological condition of organism caused by dysfunction of thyroid gland, connected with insufficient intake of iodine in organism;
6) prevention of iodine-deficiency diseases - system of the actions directed to the prevention of iodine-deficiency diseases;
7) not iodized salt - the salt which is not enriched with compounds of iodine;
8) salt iodination - salt enrichment production process by compounds of iodine;
8-1) authorized body in the field of sanitary and epidemiologic wellbeing of the population - the state body performing management in the field of sanitary and epidemiologic wellbeing of the population.
