About protection and rational use of genetic inventories of cultural plants

This Law according to Items 11 and 20 of part I of article 94 of the Constitution of the Azerbaijan Republic determines the legal basis of protection and rational use of genetic inventories of cultural plants for protection of welfare and historical heritage, including their wild ancestors, taking into account activities for production of food of agricultural activities, scientific research, selection and educational activities, and also interests present and future generations.

Chapter 1. General provisions

Article 1. Main determinations

1.1. The basic concepts used in this Law have the following values:

1.1.1. cultural plants - the types, forms and plant varieties cultivated by the person for product receipt of food, raw materials for the industry, forages in the decorative purposes;

1.1.2. genetic inventories of cultural plants - any genetic material of plant origin which is of the actual or potential value for production of foodstuff, agricultural, medical and other types of activity;

1.1.3. genetic material - any material of plant origin containing functional units of heredity, including the reproductive and vegetative made multiple copies material;
