About ensuring unity of measurements

This Law establishes the legal basis of ensuring unity of measurements in Turkmenistan

Chapter 1. General provisions

Article 1. The basic concepts used in this Law

For the purposes of this Law the following basic concepts are used:

1) unity of measurements - condition of measurements in case of which results of measurements are expressed in terms of the sizes allowed to application in Turkmenistan and errors of measurements are in the established borders with the set probability;

2) ensuring unity of measurements - the activities directed to achievement and maintenance of unity of measurements according to this Law;

3) units of sizes - the fixed values of the sizes accepted for unit of these sizes applied to quantitative expression of sizes, homogeneous with them;

4) checking of measuring instruments (further - checking) - set of the transactions which are carried out for the purpose of confirmation of conformity of measuring instruments to metrological requirements;

5) calibration of measuring instruments - (further - calibration) - set of the transactions which are carried out for determination of the valid values of metrological characteristics of measuring instruments;

6) metrological certification of measuring instruments and standard obraztsovissledovaniye of measuring instruments and standard samples for determination of their suitability to application.

Article 2. The legislation of Turkmenistan in the field of ensuring unity of measurements

1. The legislation of Turkmenistan in the field of ensuring unity of measurements is based on the Constitution of Turkmenistan and consists of this Law and other regulatory legal acts of Turkmenistan.

2. If the international treaty of Turkmenistan establishes other rules than containing in this Law, then rules of the international treaty are applied.
