This Law determines the legal basis of activities, and also the principles, tasks, the rights and obligations of National society of Red Crescent of Turkmenistan.

Chapter I. General provisions

Article 1. Main concepts

In this Law the following basic concepts are used:

1) the International movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent - organizational form of permanent interaction between the International Committee of the Red Cross, the societies of the Red Cross or Red Crescent recognized by it and the International Federation of societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent for the purpose of the most effective implementation of humanitarian activities by them;

2) the International Committee of the Red Cross - the international organization which purposes and tasks have exclusively humanitarian character and consist in protection of life and advantage of the people who were affected by armed conflicts and rendering the help to them;

3) the International conference of the Red Cross and Red Polumesyatsamezhdunarodnaya conference of representatives of components of the International movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent and representatives of gosudarstvuchastnik of the Geneva conventions of August 12, 1949 (further - the Geneva conventions) and Additional protocols to them of June 8, 1977 (further - Additional protocols);

4) the International Federation of societies of the Red Cross and Red Polumesyatsamezhdunarodnaya the non-governmental humanitarian organization created for the purpose of the international coordination of humanitarian activities of societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent and consisting of all societies of the Red Cross or Red Crescent recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
