1. This Procedure is developed on the basis of the Water code of the Azerbaijan Republic and the Presidential decree of the Azerbaijan Republic "About application of the Water code of the Azerbaijan Republic approved by the Law of the Azerbaijan Republic of December 26, 1997" of March 13, 1998 No. 685.
2. Reference of especially protected water objects to categories is regulated by this Procedure.

Reference of especially protected water objects to categories consists in determination, the inventory and protection of the sites of water space (water area) consisting of the natural complexes and objects representing special scientific, historical, cultural, esthetic and nature protection value, places of distribution of the animal species and plants included in "Red List", fully or partially, for permanent or temporary term removed from economic activity.
