About veterans of the Great Patriotic War
This Law establishes the organizational, economic and legal basis of social protection of veterans of the Great Patriotic War in the Republic of Armenia, creating favorable conditions for ensuring their vigorous activity and welfare.
Under this Law veterans of the Great Patriotic War (further - veterans) are citizens of the Republic of Armenia and persons who are constantly living in the Republic of Armenia taking part in the Great Patriotic War and also participants of the Siege of Leningrad in the years of war and the former minor captives, those faces of the leading and ordinary structure of law-enforcement bodies and state security of the former USSR who are recognized as disabled people as a result of wound, contusion and the received injuries on duty of fascist concentration camps. The status of the foreign citizens and persons without citizenship who were taking part in the Great Patriotic War temporarily living or being in the Republic of Armenia is established by international treaties of the Republic of Armenia.
The legislation of the Republic of Armenia on veterans consists of this Law and other legal acts of the Republic of Armenia.
If international treaties of the Republic of Armenia establish other regulations than provided by this Law, then regulations of international treaties are applied.
Social protection of veterans is performed according to the procedure, established by the law and other legal acts.
Veterans have the right to free medical care and medical attendance, and also to receive permits to sanatorium treatment on favorable terms according to the procedure, established by the law for the military personnel within the state order.
