About safety of the activities connected with genetically modified organisms
This Law regulates the types of activity connected with obtaining, testing, production, use and realization of the organisms which are genetically modified using methods of modern biotechnology. The human body cannot be object of genetic modifications.
The special mode of regulation, permission and management of the specified types of activity is designed to provide their implementation in the conditions of biological safety, genetically modified organisms allowing to warn, exclude or reduce risk of adverse effect on health of the person, biological diversity, ecological equilibrium and quality of the environment.
In this Law the following basic concepts are used:
organism - any biological education capable to transfer or replication of genetic material;
genetically modified organism - any organism, except for human which genetic material was changed others, than crossing and (or) natural recombination, way;
microorganism - any microbic being, cellular or noncellular education capable to transfer or replication of genetic material, including viruses, cages of animals and plants in culture;
modern biotechnology - application of in vitro of methods of recombination of the nucleic acids and methods of cell fusion different from the methods specific to selection and traditional improvement which eliminate natural physiological barriers of reproduction or genetic recombinations;
use of genetically modified organisms - activities or set of the types of activity aiming at obtaining and release on the market of genetically modified organisms and products, any from them, including research, testing and industrial production;
