About introduction of amendments to the Law of the Republic of Armenia "About alternative service"

Article 1. "About alternative service" (on December 17, 2003, ZR-6, further - the Law) to state articles 2 and 3 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia in the following edition:

Article 2. Concept and types of alternative service

1. In sense of this Law the service replacing conscription obligatory military service which is not connected with carrying with storage, content and use of weapon is considered alternative and it is performed as in military, and civil organizations.

2. Types of alternative service are:

a) alternative military service – the military service which is not connected with the alert performed in Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, carrying, storage, content and use of weapon;

b) alternative labor service – the labor service performed out of Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.

3. The purpose of alternative service is ensuring accomplishment of civic duty before the Fatherland and society, and it has no character of punishment, humiliation of honor and advantage of the personality.

Article 3. Basis of passing of alternative service

1. Alternative service there can pass citizen of the Republic of Armenia whose religion and beliefs are contradicted by passing of military service in military divisions, and also carrying, storage, content and use of weapon.

2. The citizen of the Republic of Armenia passing obligatory military service cannot refuse the service and elect alternative service.".
