About introduction of amendments to the Law on nationality of the Republic of Moldova No. 1024-XIV of June 2, 2000

Art. I. - In the Law on nationality of the Republic of Moldova No. 1024-XIV of June 2, 2000 (repeated publication: The official monitor of the Republic of Moldova, special release of December 9, 2005), with subsequent changes to make the following changes:
1. In article 1 to state the concept "legal and permanent residence" of the following edition:
"legal and permanent residence - legal stay of person during the uncertain period of time based on the official documents issued by authorities of the host state.".
2. State Article 17 in the following edition:
"Article 17. Naturalization conditions
(1) Citizenship of the Republic of Moldova can be granted based on the statement of the foreigner, legally and constantly living in the territory of the Republic of Moldova, which:
a) legally and continuously stays in the territory of the Republic of Moldova within at least 10 last years. For stateless persons, refugees and persons using political asylum, the corresponding term of stay constitutes 8 years; or
b) legally and continuously stays in the territory of the Republic of Moldova within 5 years until achievement of age of 18 years by it; or
c) is married to the citizen of the Republic of Moldova within at least 3 years and for the last 3 years legally and continuously stays in the territory of the Republic of Moldova; or
d) for the last 3 years legally and continuously stays in the territory of the Republic of Moldova at parents (including adoptive parents) or the children (including adopted) who are citizens of the Republic of Moldova; and also
e) knows and observes Constitution provisions; and
f) passed the test for determination of level of proficiency in state language; and
g) has legal livelihoods.
(2) the Procedure of determination of levels of knowledge of provisions of the Constitution and ownership of state language of persons who filed petition for provision of nationality of the Republic of Moldova is established by the Government.
