About safety and qualities of foodstuff

This Law establishes legal, organizational and economic basis of safety and quality of foodstuff and is directed to public health care of Turkmenistan.

Chapter I. General provisions

Article 1. Basic concepts

In this Law the following basic concepts are used:

1) food staples – raw materials of plant, animal, microbiological, mineral and artificial origin, and also the water used for production of foodstuff;

2) identification of the foodstuff, materials and products contacting to foodstuff – activities for establishment of compliance of the foodstuff, materials and products contacting to foodstuff, to requirements of regulating documents, information on the foodstuff, materials and products contacting to foodstuff, containing in the documents attached to them and on labels;

3) batch of foodstuff – set of the units of food staples and the foodstuff, materials and products contacting to foodstuff, made (developed) and packed in identical conditions and accompanied with the document certifying their quality;

4) products of dietary food – the products of treatment-and-prophylactic food intended for certain categories of persons at which processes of digestion or metabolism are broken or which are in special physiological conditions;

5) dietary supplements – natural (identical natural) biologically active agents intended for the use along with food or introductions in structure of foodstuff;

6) products of baby food – the foodstuff intended for food of children aged up to fourteen years and meeting physiological requirements of children's organism;

7) counterfeited foodstuff – foodstuff with intentionally changed by the structure, properties and characteristics worsening their nutrition value, involved in turnover, information on which is obviously incomplete or doubtful;

8) genetically modified organisms (microorganisms) – organisms, microorganisms which genotypes were artificially changed by means of methods of genetic engineering;
