About theater and theatrical activities

This Law determines legal, economic, social and organizational basis of state policy in the field of theater and theatrical activities, governs the relations arising in connection with creation, public display in live execution of theatrical performances, determines the legal basis of theatrical activities, and also form of its state support and is directed to forming and satisfaction of creative requirements and interests of citizens, their esthetic education, preserving, development and enrichment of spiritual potential of the people of Turkmenistan.

Chapter I. General provisions

Article 1. The basic concepts used in this Law

For the purposes of this Law the following basic concepts are used:

1) theater – cultural institution (the company or the organization) or collective which main activities is creation, public performance and public display in live execution of works of theater and other representations;

2) the theatrical organization – the organization which main objective is ensuring activities of theaters and (or) creative specialists of theaters;

3) the state theater, the theatrical organization – the theater, the theatrical organization created by the representative on that public authority;

4) non-state theater, the theatrical organization – the theater, the theatrical organization created by physical or non-state legal entities;

5) theatrical case – complex of the actions directed to creation, public performance and public display of works of theater, their distribution and preserving, providing conditions for development of theatrical creativity, professional education, science, theatrical journalism, publishing activities on history, the theory and practice of theater, the related museum and archive activity;

6) theater – art form which feature is art display of life by means of scenic action of actors before the audience;
