The government of the Republic of Belarus and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine which further are referred to as "Party"

referring to the Convention on the operational notification on nuclear accident of 1986 which further is referred to as "the Convention of IAEA"

being guided by regulations of the Contract between the Republic of Belarus and Ukraine on friendship, neighborliness and cooperation of July 17, 1995,

aiming at further strengthening international cooperation in the field of nuclear and radiation safety,

convinced that timely exchange of information and experience in area of nuclear and radiation safety will promote considerably increase in safety of the population of the states of both Parties,

agreed as follows:

Article 1

This agreement provides full mutual cooperation in case of any accident connected with nuclear installations and nuclear activities as it is determined in articles 1 and 3 of the Convention of IAEA, and also in the field of ensuring high level of radiation safety.

Article 2

If in the territory of the state of one of the Parties on nuclear installation or when implementing nuclear activities there is accident which affected or can affect radiation safety of other Party, then the Party in the territory of which state there will be accident, will quickly notify on it other Party. It also without delay will provide the available operational information necessary for minimization of radiation effects and decision making about holding actions for protection of the population. Such information will contain, in particular, data as follows:

a) time, place and type of accident;

b) to emergency nuclear installation or activities;

c) the assumed or established reason and forecast development of accident;
