The governments of the State Parties of this agreement which are hereinafter referred to as with Contracting Parties

proceeding from the Agreement on interaction in the field of the prevention and mitigation of consequences of emergency situations of natural and technogenic nature of January 22, 1993,

considering cross-border nature of seismic danger and effects of earthquakes, in view of need of the organization of works on their studying and the prevention,

aiming to keep the developed scientific and technical and organizational relations in the field of the prevention of seismic danger,

AGREED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

For the purpose of increase in forecasting effectiveness of earthquakes and assessment of seismic danger of the territories Contracting Parties will organize regular exchange of information, concerning the specified areas, in the operational and current modes on a grant basis - in the consent of Contracting Parties.

Article 2

Scientific research on studying of seismic activity and the forecast of earthquakes is carried out in the territories of Contracting Parties according to the approved national programs.

Article 3

In case of the strong and destructive earthquakes which occurred in border regions of two and more Contracting Parties, studying of the centers and geologic-geophysical effects is performed by the concerted efforts of these states, and also other countries by the invitation of affected Contracting Parties. Exchange of experimental materials on studying of earthquakes is made on a grant basis.

Article 4

Coordination of works is under this agreement performed by Interstate council on the emergency situations of natural and technogenic nature created according to the Decision of Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States of January 22, 1993.
