Flora causes existence of the person and animals on Earth. It is national wealth and one of the most important bases of stable social, economic development and well-being of nation.

This Law establishes state policy of the Republic of Armenia in the field of evidence-based protection, protection, use and reproduction of natural flora.

Chapter 1. General provisions

Article 1. The basic concepts used in the Law

In this Law the following basic concepts are used:

the plant which is on the verge of disappearance - rare species of plant which number of individuals is constantly reduced eventually;

afforestation - the artificial wood or forest belt pledged by saplings of forest breeds of trees which have reforestation, field-protecting, soil-protective and other value;

geographical prevalence - certain part of Earth within which the type of plant or vegetable community is widespread;

The Red List of plants - the summary document meeting the international requirements in which data on the status of the rare, being on the verge of disappearance plants and communities, on geographical prevalence, ecological conditions, biological features, the existing condition and measures for their preserving are entered;

botanical garden - organization of research, educational and cultural appointment where the live collections representing variety of world flora are grown up and researched;

flora - set of types of trees, bushes, grassy plants (including mosses, peat mosses, horsetail and ferns), and also seaweed, mushrooms, lichens and their communities under natural conditions;

the inventory of flora - system of data and documents on legal regime of objects of flora, their quantity and quality characteristic, condition, nature protection, cultural and economic values, geographical and administrative-territorial prevalence, resources and use;

flora object - all types of wild-growing plants, their communities, the place of growth, natural monuments, and also botanical gardens, arboretums, afforestations;
