This Law establishes bases, procedure and conditions of temporary accommodation of persons petitioning for the status of the refugee in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, provisions of the status of the refugee or refusal in it, losses of the status of the refugee, and also provision of provisional asylum to the foreign citizens or persons which do not have nationality, competence of the state body authorized on that by the Government of the Republic of Armenia (further - authorized body), the rights and obligations of the refugee and person petitioning for the status of the refugee, guarantee of their legal and social security.
In this Law the following basic concepts are used:
the refugee - person who is not the citizen of the Republic of Armenia who because of reasonable concern to fall victim of prosecutions for belonging to racial, national, religious, certain social group or political convictions are out of the state of the civil accessory also cannot or does not wish to use protection of this state or, without having nationality of any state and staying out of the state of the former main residence, cannot or does not wish to return to this state or if person at the same time is citizen of several states, but has concerns that will not be able to use protection any of these states;
person petitioning for the status of the refugee - person who addresses or has intention to address authorized body for receipt of the status of the refugee in the Republic of Armenia;
