The alternative service represents socially useful activities which implementation is assigned to citizens of the Republic of Belarus (further - citizens) instead of military service.
The alternative service is not connected with service in Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, other troops and military forming of the Republic of Belarus.
Legal regulation in the field of alternative service is performed according to the legislation on alternative service and international treaties of the Republic of Belarus.
The legislation on alternative service is based on the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus and consists of this Law and other acts of the legislation regulating questions of alternative service.
If the international treaty of the Republic of Belarus establishes other rules, than those which contain in this Law then are applied rules of the international treaty.
The citizens who are subject to appeal on the compulsory military service, service in reserve fit for health reasons and to physical development to passing of compulsory military service, service in reserve, personally declared that adoption of the Military oath, carrying, use of weapons or direct participation in production and servicing of weapon, ammunition and military equipment contradict their religious beliefs in that measure in which there is impossible passing of military service can be directed to alternative service.
