About breeding case in livestock production

This Law determines legal and organizational basis of breeding case in livestock production and is directed to preserving and enhancement of gene pool of breeding animals, reproduction and improvement of their productive qualities, and also regulates activities of state bodies, the physical persons and legal entities occupied in the field of breeding livestock production.

Chapter I. General provisions

Article 1. The basic concepts used in this law

In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:

1) breeding livestock production - cultivation of breeding animals, production and use of breeding products in the selection purposes;

2) breeding animal - the thoroughbred animal having documentary confirmed origin used for reproduction of certain breed and registered in accordance with the established procedure;

3) breeding case in livestock production - system of the zootechnical, selection and organizational and economic actions directed to improvement of breeding and productive qualities of animals;

4) breeding products (material) - breeding animal, its sperm and embryos, incubatory eggs, caviar, larvae, pchelopaketa;

5) appraisal of quality - complex assessment of breeding and productive qualities of breeding animal, and also qualities of other breeding products (material) for the purpose of their further use;

6) breeding value - the level of genetic potential of breeding animal and capability to transfer to posterity hozyaystvenno useful signs;

7) productivity of breeding animals - set hozyaystvenno useful signs of breeding animals, including quality and quantity of products received from them;

8) cultivation of thoroughbred breeding animals - cultivation of breeding animals of one breed for the purpose of preserving and improvement of signs inherent in this breed;

9) small (genofondny) breed - group of seldom meeting animals of certain breed who are differing in genetiko-selection features and being under the threat of disappearance;
