This Law establishes the state guarantees of providing the equal rights and equal opportunities of women and men in all spheres of the state and public life.

Chapter I. General provisions

Article 1. The basic concepts used in this law

In this Law the following basic concepts are used:

1) the equal rights – the regulations and rules guaranteeing equality of women and men in all spheres of the state and public life established and protected by the state;

2) equal opportunities – availability of the means, conditions necessary for ensuring equal participation of women and men in all spheres of the state and public life;

3) discrimination on the basis of floor – restriction or infringement of the rights and opportunities of the person or belittling of its advantage on basis of sex.

Article 2. Legislation of Turkmenistan on the state guarantees of providing the equal rights and equal opportunities of women and men

 The legislation of Turkmenistan on the state guarantees of providing the equal rights and equal opportunities of women and men is based on the Constitution of Turkmenistan and consists of this Law and other regulatory legal acts of Turkmenistan.

Article 3. The state guarantees of the equal rights and equal opportunities of women and men in Turkmenistan

1. Turkmenistan guarantees to women and men the equal rights and equal opportunities (further – gender equality) in all spheres of the state and public life, and also equality before the law irrespective of nationality, races, floor, origin, property, official and marital status, the residence, language, the relation to religion, political convictions, party accessory or lack of belonging to any batch.
