Approve the Regulations on provision of political asylum by the President of the Republic of Moldova which are component of this decree.

Regulations on provision of political asylum by the President of the Republic of Moldova

1. In this provision conditions, procedure and the bases of provision by the President of the Republic of Moldova of political asylum to foreign citizens and stateless persons are established (further - persons).

2. The political asylum is the special protection provided to person by the President of the Republic of Moldova based on the conventional principles and rules of international law according to the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, the Law on the status of refugees and this provision.

3. The president of the Republic of Moldova in exceptional cases grants political asylum to the persons performing political and diplomatic activities or holding public positions in other countries or the international organizations, to persons, who showed special attachment, respect and interest in the Republic of Moldova, other outstanding persons who in the country of their civil accessory or residence are exposed to prosecutions for the social and political activities and beliefs which are not contradicting democratic principles and rules of international law.
