The government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Azerbaijan Republic which are hereinafter referred to as by Contracting Parties, aiming to facilitate implementation of railway service between both countries, and also transit across their territory to the third countries, attaching importance to coordination and joint activities of rail transport of both states, wishing to develop the relations in the spirit of mutual assistance and mutual advantage, agreed as follows:

Article 1

1. Contracting parties recognized necessary to perform the coordinated tariff policy accepted by Council of heads of administrations of the railroads of state members of the Commonwealth of Independent States in interstate and international messages.

2. Contracting parties agreed to transport passengers and loads by the railroads between the countries on the basis of the regulating documents existing at the time of the signature of this agreement.

3. Contracting parties agreed to coordinate the actions in case of development of tariff policy for transit of passengers and loads by rail from the Republic of Uzbekistan transit across the territory of the Azerbaijan Republic and from the Azerbaijan Republic on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the purpose of attraction of additional transit cargo flows on these directions.

Article 2

Due to the transition of the State Parties of the Commonwealth of Independent States to the international principles of calculations Contracting Parties agreed to perfrom among themselves monthly balance settlements for transportation of goods within the railroads with crossing of transit sites.

Article 3

To the conclusion of new contracts and agreements Contracting Parties keep the participation in the Agreement on international carriages of passengers and loads by rail and other agreements existing at the time of the signature of this agreement.
