About introduction of amendments to the Law of Ukraine "About committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine" concerning access of mass media to committee meetings of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decides:

1. Bring in the Law of Ukraine "About committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine" (Sheets of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, 2006, No. 17, the Art. 146) the following changes:

Part one of Article 9 to state 1) in the following edition:

"1. Committees inform the public on the activities, in particular, by promulgation of the work plan, the schedule of committee meetings, the acts adopted by committees, protocols and shorthand reports of committee meetings and hearings in committees. The meeting and other events of committees which are held openly have the right to visit journalists, media men, representatives of public organizations. For journalists, media men accredited under the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, additional accreditation for visit of committee meetings is not carried out";

Part the second Article 44 to state 2) in the following edition:

"2. Committee meeting is held openly and publicly, except cases when according to the decision of committee closed meeting is held. At open sessions of committees are present at meetings of person which have the right to perform sound recording, film, photo and video filming, broadcast of meetings per radio and television, online broadcasting on the Internet and/or other data transmission networks in such a way that does not prevent holding committee meetings.

On the Internet or other data transmission networks persons who are present at meeting report about implementation of sound recording, film, photo and video filming, broadcast of meeting per radio and television, online broadcasting before holding meeting to the chairman who announces it before consideration of questions of the agenda of meeting.

In case of violation by persons who are present at meeting of procedure for holding meeting or preventing to holding committee meeting according to the decision of committee such persons can be removed from the room where committee meeting is held".
