About export and import of cultural values

Article 1. Purpose of this Law

The purpose of this Law is regulation of the relations connected with preserving cultural heritage of the people of Uzbekistan, protection of cultural values against their illegal export and import, establishment of single procedure for export from the Republic of Uzbekistan and import of cultural values to the Republic of Uzbekistan, and also contribution to development of the international cultural cooperation.

Article 2. Legislation on export and import of cultural values

The legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan on export and import of cultural values consists of this Law and other acts of the legislation.

In the Republic of Karakalpakstan export and import of cultural values is regulated also by the legislation of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

If the international treaty of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes other rules, than those which contain in the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan on export and import of cultural values then are applied rules of the international treaty.

Article 3. Basic concepts

In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:

cultural values - the movable objects of material world representing national, historical, art, scientific and cognitive, spiritual and moral and other cultural importance;

export of cultural values - movement through customs border of cultural values out of limits of the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan without obligation of their return import;

import of cultural values - movement through customs border of cultural values of the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan without obligation of their return export;

temporary export of cultural values - movement through customs border of cultural values out of limits of the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the obligation of their return import in the stipulated time;

temporary import of cultural values - movement through customs border of cultural values of the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the obligation of their return export in the stipulated time,
