The Republic of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan which further are referred to as with the Parties proceeding from the principles of respect of sovereignty and territorial integrity, remaining committed to provisions of the Agreement on friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan signed in Ashgabat on May 19, 1993

recognizing the inalienable right of all sovereign states to take necessary measures for proper protection of the frontiers,

in view of need of streamlining of the mode on joint border, for the purpose of providing boundary, customs, sanitary and other commonly accepted forms of control, confirming passing of frontier between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan according to the existing administrative-territorial differentiation,

emphasizing that the border established as a result of delimitation between two brotherly states will be limit of peace and harmony,

agreed as follows:

1. The parties in agreed time frames will start negotiations on delimitation of frontier between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan for the purpose of its legal registration according to rules of international law.

2. The parties will create delegations from representatives of relevant organs to which will charge implementation of necessary actions for delimitation of border and preparation of the relevant interstate agreement.
