Article 1. Bring in the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan of April 29, 2006 "About state registration of acts of civil status" (Akhbori of Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, 2006, No. 4, Art. 201; 2008, No. 12, h 2, Art. 1017; 2009, No. 3, Art. 89; 2011, No. 3, Art. 178, No. 6, Art. 444; 2015, No. 3, Art. 220; No. 11, Art. 961, Art. 962) following changes and amendments;

1. State Article 20 in the following edition:

"Article 20. Name of person and procedure for record of surname, name and middle name

1. Each person in case of state registration of the birth has the right to surname, name, and also the middle name proved by historical values and the Tajik national culture. Assignment of names and their correct writing in the Republic of Tajikistan is performed according to culture, national traditions and the Register of the Tajik national names approved by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

2. In identity documents which list is established by the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "About identity documents" the surname, name and middle name of person register (if is available).

3. The surname of the child in case of state registration of the birth registers by last name the father or mother or the surname formed on behalf of the father. In case of different, surnames of parents, the surname of the child, under the agreement of parents, registers by last name the father either by the name of mothers, or according to requirements of parts 4, 7 and 8 these Articles.
