Article 1. Main objectives of breeding livestock production

The main objectives of breeding livestock production are:

creation, preserving, reproduction and rational use of breeding resources for the purpose of improvement of breeding and productive qualities of animals;

ensuring reliability of accounting of origin, productivity, assessment on type and other qualities of the breeding resources used in selection process;

carrying out testing of producers on quality of posterity;

receipt of animals with new useful genetic signs;

effective use in selection of the most valuable world gene pool;

preserving gene pool of local and disappearing domestic breeds;

increase in breeding and productive qualities and the accelerated reproduction of highly productive animals in commodity herds;

increase in cost efficiency and competitiveness of all industry of livestock production.

Article 2. Basic concepts

In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:

breeding livestock production - cultivation of breeding animals, production and use of breeding products (material) in the selection purposes;

breeding animal - the animal used for reproduction of certain breed, having documentary confirmed origin and registered in accordance with the established procedure;

breeding products (material) - breeding animal, its seed and embryos, breeding egg, silkworm silk-worm eggs;

appraisal of quality - assessment of breeding and productive qualities of animal;

genofondny (small) breed - group of seldom meeting animals of certain breed and who are under the threat of disappearance;

state registration of breeding animals and breeding staducht the information about breeding animals and breeding herds for the purpose of determination of origin and establishment of their productivity;

the certificate - the document confirming origin, productivity and other qualities of breeding animal, and also quality of seed or embryo.
