This Law determines legal, organizational, economic and social basis of activities in the field of cinematography, governs the public relations arising in production process, public display, distribution and storage of movies, determines the main activities of the state by preserving and development of cinematography and the state support of cinematography.

Chapter I. General provisions

Article 1. The basic concepts applied in this Law

For the purposes of this Law the following basic concepts are applied:

1) cinematography – the area of culture including the creative, production, scientific, technical, educational, information, educational processes directed to production, public display, distribution and storage of movies;

2) motion picture art – the type of art creativity created on technological fundamentals of cinematography;

3) the film chronicle – the documentary event plots reflecting the most important features of past and the present, the place, circumstances and intended in the long term for production of the movie or storage;

4) the film project – set of documents based on which production of the movie is performed;

5) the movie – the audiovisual work created in art, chronicle and documentary, popular scientific, educational, animation, television or other form on the basis of creative intention, consisting from the images (personnel) fixed on film or other types of carriers and consistently connected in thematic whole with maintenance or without their sound and intended for perception by means of special technical devices. The movie lasting at least than 52 minute is the feature film, less than 52 minutes – the short film;

6) the author of the movie – physical person by which creative activity are created both the movie in general, and its separate components. The production director, the scriptwriter, the author of the piece of music which is specially created for the movie with the text or without text treat authors of the movie;
