About modification and amendments in the Law of the Republic of Armenia "About the defender of human rights"

Accepted by National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on December 7, 2010

Article 1. ZR-23 of October 21, 2003 "About the defender of human rights" (further – the Law) after the words "protection of the rights and freedoms" to add article 2 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia with words ", being guided by the fundamental principles of legality, public cohabitation and social justice".

Article 2. To state part 1 of article 4 of the Law in the following edition:

"1. The defender cannot be engaged in business activity, hold position in state bodies or local government bodies or in trade organizations, to perform other paid work, except scientific, pedagogical and creative works.".

Article 3. To add part 1 of article 12 of the Law with Items 7 and 8 of the following content:

"7) to address to Council of chairmen of the courts of the Republic of Armenia for receipt of official explanations of advisory nature about the existing practice of law enforcement,

8) to make the message on initiation of disciplinary production to the judge. The person who received the message having competence of initiation of production shall report to the Defender about results of consideration of the message in three-day term.".

Article 4. In article 20 of the Law:

Part 1 to state 1) in the following edition:

"1. The official rate of the Defender is equal to official rate of the Chairman of the Constitutional court of the Republic of Armenia. The increase established to official rate of the Defender is calculated according to the procedure, established by the legislation for the Chairman of the Constitutional court of the Republic of Armenia.",
