About modification of some legal acts of Ukraine concerning implementation of integrated approaches in water resources management by the basin principle

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decides:

I. Make changes to the following legal acts of Ukraine:

1. In the Water code of Ukraine (The sheet of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, 1995, No. 24, the Art. 189):

1) in Article 1:

a) the fifteenth and eighteenth to state paragraphs in the following edition:

"Water object - the natural or created artificially environment element in which waters are concentrated (the sea, the estuary, the river, stream, the lake, water storage basin, pond, the channel, and also the water-bearing horizon)";

"Water management balance - ratio between the water resources which are available for use in certain territory and the needs for them for certain region for certain period";

b) add taking into account alphabetic procedure with terms of the following content:

"The basin principle of management - the complex (integrated) water resources management within the area of the river basin";

"The water management site - part of the river basin for which water management balances are developed water intake limits from water object and other parameters of use of water object (water use) are set";

"Water management division into districts - the division of hydrographic units into water management sites performed for development of water management balances";

"Water management systems - complex of the water objects and hydraulic engineering constructions intended for water resources management connected among themselves";

"Hydrographic division into districts - division of the territory of Ukraine into hydrographic units which is performed for development and deployment of management plans by river basins";

"Euthrophication - increase in content of biogenic substances in reservoir which causes rough reproduction of seaweed, reduction of transparency of water and content of dissolved oxygen in deep layers owing to decomposition of organic substance of dead plants and animals, and also mass death of ground organisms";
