About export, import and return of cultural values

This Law governs the relations connected with export, import and return of cultural values and is directed to protection of national cultural heritage and development of international cooperation of Ukraine in the field of culture.

Operation of this Law does not extend to modern souvenir products, objects of cultural purpose of serial and mass production.

 Section I General provisions

Article 1. Determination of terms

In this Law terms are used in the following value:

cultural values - the objects of material and spiritual culture having art, historical, ethnographic and scientific value and subjects to preserving, reproduction and protection according to the legislation of Ukraine namely:

original works of art of painting, graphics and sculpture, art compositions and installations from any materials, works of arts and crafts and traditional folk art;

the objects connected with historical events, development of society and state, history of science and culture, and also concerning life and activities of outstanding figures of the state, political parties, the public and religious organizations, science, culture and art;

the objects of museum value found in case of archeological excavations;

components and fragments of architectural, historical, art monuments and monuments of monumental art;

the ancient books and other editions representing historical, art, scientific and literary value, separately or to collections;

manuscripts and incunabulums, old printing books, archive documents, including film, photo and phonodocuments, separately or in collection;

unique and rare musical instruments;

various types of weapon which has art, historical, ethnographic and scientific value;

rare stamps, other philatelic materials, separately or in collection;

rare coins, awards, medals, seals and other objects of collecting;

the zoological collections representing scientific, cultural and educational, teaching and educational or esthetic value;

rare collections and samples of flora and fauna, mineralogy, anatomy and paleontology;
