The memorandum between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic Georgia of cooperation in the field of environmental protection

The government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic Georgia which hereinafter are referred to as further the Parties,

being based on the traditional friendly business relations which developed between two states

in view of exclusive importance and relevance of efforts which concern cooperation in the field of environmental protection and coordination of common efforts on preserving the healthy circle existence of the person,

recognizing that the cooperation in the field of ecology is important and necessary element of consolidation of the bilateral relations for benefit of both people,

agreed about the following:

1. The parties will develop mutually beneficial and long-term cooperation in the field of environmental protection and rational environmental management.

2. The parties, through the environmental agencies perform cooperation in the field of environmental protection in such main directions:

a) protection of the air basin and water resources from pollution;

b) monitoring and impact assessment on the environment;

c) emergency ecological situations;

d) according to the international standards and agreements exchange of information about transportation of toxic and dangerous wastes and loads on/through the territory of the second Party;

e) economic aspects of nature protection policy;

e) legal basis of nature protection measures, rapprochement of regulations of the ecological legislation;

?) exchange of nature protection information, including resource-saving wasteless technologies;

g) protection of the circle of the Black Sea according to the international convention about protection of the Black Sea against pollution;

h) wildlife conservation, preserving biological diversity, control of transportations of rare and endangered species of plants and animals;

i) ecological education.

The parties also provide other directions of cooperation in this area.

3. The cooperation in the field of environmental protection of the Party is performed in the following forms:

a) exchange of information and regulating documentation;
