Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and Government of the Republic Georgia on sci-tech cooperation

The government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic Georgia which hereinafter are referred to as further as "Parties", convinced that the sci-tech cooperation is important component of all complex of the bilateral relations,

recognizing need of interaction in the conditions of internationalization of research and development,

considering scientific and technical bonds between Ukraine and the Republic Georgia which historically developed,

in view of that such cooperation will promote consolidation of the bilateral relations between both countries and the people, and also will create premises for development of mutually advantageous trade and economic relations,

being guided by the Treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between Ukraine and the Republic Georgia of April 13, 1993,

agreed about the following:

Article 1

The parties will help sci-tech cooperation, cooperation on the basis of the principles of equality and mutual advantage.

Article 2

In view of priorities of scientific and technical policy in both states, the Parties will develop cooperation in such directions:

- basic researches in the field of natural sciences;

- cooperation between national academies;

- research in the field of technical science and development of technologies;

- preparation and training of specialists, research and educational personnel, cooperation in the field of education;

- standardization, metrology and certification;

- protection of industrial property;

- scientific and technical information.

The priority directions of joint scientific research and sci-tech cooperation of the Party determine the following:

- high-temperature superconductivity;

- microelectronics and optical electronics;

- perspective information technologies;

- safety of the population and economic objects in time emergence of natural and technogenic catastrophes;

- human genome;

- bioengineering and biotechnology;
