The legislation on safety of hydraulic engineering constructions consists of this Federal Law, regulatory legal acts of the President of the Russian Federation, regulatory legal acts of the Government of the Russian Federation, and also regulatory legal acts of federal executive bodies adopted according to it, including federal regulations and rules of safety of hydraulic engineering constructions.

Federal regulations and rules of safety of hydraulic engineering constructions affirm the federal executive bodies performing functions on development and realization of state policy and normative legal regulation in the field of safety of hydraulic engineering constructions and establish mandatory requirements:
