This Law governs the public relations arising when implementing activities for entering of personal data of physical persons into the register of the population, their updating, to exception, storage, recovery, provision, use and protection.
1. For the purposes of this Law the following main terms and their determinations are applied:
1.1. the register of the population (further - the register) - the state centralized automated information system which basis is made by base of personal data of citizens of the Republic of Belarus, the foreign citizens and persons without citizenship who are constantly living in the Republic of Belarus (further - physical persons);
1.2. entry in the register - the main and additional personal data of physical persons, and also data on details of the documents confirming the main and additional personal data of particular physical persons (further - personal data), and the related marks containing in the register;
1.3. maintaining the register - processing of the personal data and related marks containing in the register;
1.4. identification number - the alphanumeric sequence which is the basic identifying element of personal data in the course of their entering into the register, updating, exception, storage, recovery, provision, use and protection;
1.5. the registering service - the divisions of law-enforcement bodies authorized on maintaining the register.
2. The term "processing of personal data" is used in this Law in the value determined by the Law of the Republic of Belarus of May 7, 2021 No. 99-Z "About personal data protection".
