being guided by regulations of the Contract between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus on economic cooperation for 1999-2008 of December 11, 1998,

noting desire of the Parties to cooperate effectively in the direction of implementation of actions of the interstate program of long-term economic cooperation of Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus for 1999-2008,

noting need to develop further cooperation in the field of energy saving, increase in efficiency of end use of energy and renewable energy resources,

in view of importance of further increase in energy efficiency in use both traditional, and renewable energy resources on the basis of effective and environmentally friendly technologies,

considering energy saving as one of the major tools according to the solution of environmental problems and accomplishment of obligations of the United Nations Framework Convention on climate change of May 9, 1992,

agreed about the following:

Article 1. Agreement purpose

The purpose of this agreement is assistance to formation and development of cooperation in the field of effective use of fuel and energy resources and renewable energy resources to promote achievement of common interests of the Parties in development and use of effective and environmentally friendly technologies and power sources both traditional, and renewable.

Article 2. Areas of cooperation

Within this agreement and considering the Agreement purposes stated in Article 1, the following areas of cooperation are possible:

1. Joint development of materials and implementation of the interstate, intergovernmental and interdepartmental arrangements directed to increase in efficiency of use of fuel and energy resources of the Parties.
