The governments of the State Parties of this agreement which further are referred to as with the Parties

understanding importance of regular obtaining and use of hydrometeorological information in safety of the states and decision making of economic and nature protection nature,

recognizing great importance of interstate approval of activities national, regional and global systems of observations according to hydroweather conditions and other characteristics of the surrounding environment,

expressing readiness to cooperate in area of the organization and development of hydrometeorological networks,

being guided by provisions of the Agreement on interaction in the field of hydrometeorology of February 8, 1992,

agreed as follows:

Article 1

For the purposes of this agreement the stated below terms have the following values:

interstate hydrometeorological network of the CIS (MGMS of the CIS) the integrated system of selective Items of observations of the national network supervisory organizations providing requirements of the Parties for information on hydroweather conditions and other characteristics of the surrounding environment;

national hydrometeorological network - set of the state network supervisory organizations of one of the Parties making observations of hydroweather conditions and other characteristics of the surrounding environment.

Article 2

The cooperation of the Parties in the field of ensuring activities of interstate hydrometeorological network of the CIS is performed in the following directions:

forming and ensuring functioning of interstate system of observations of hydroweather conditions and other characteristics of the surrounding environment on the basis of national hydrometeorological networks, and also the available communication infrastructures;

assistance to development and strategy implementation of development of the MGMS components of the CIS, development and implementation of the appropriate joint scientific and technical programs;
